My sincerest condolences to you and you "girls " as Starke used to call you.i was such a treat to have y´all as active members of Christ Church. Susan, I will always remember you as one of my dearest vade mecum campers when you were 11 or 12 before you got to Christ Church Charlotte. It was always a pleasure to see Starke
at SMJC when he was
Chaplin & I was an-alum. I am so glad that you all had a long time to be with Starke. He was such a fascinating person and such a kind and endearing person..

My Father , Fred Sams, was so touched by Rev. Dillard when he was with St John's Episcopal in Worthington Ohio. Dad introduced me to Stark and I found Jesus soon there after. He will live in my heart for life.

Angela, My deepest condolences are with you upon Starke's passing. I was so fond of him, and remember so well your coming to Ann Arbor to attend my master's recital. And I remember our time in Harlingen. I just hope he and Virginia have not quit talking since his arrival in Heaven. He was so fond of her, too. My thoughts will be with you and about him for a very long time. Randy

As one of the nurses in the clinic at the retirement community where the Dillards live, we were lucky to get to know Mr Dillard well these past few years. We grew so very fond of him - his unique mixture of great warmth, dignity, wisdom and wicked humor. Our "irreverent Reverend." We miss him deeply and our hearts go out to Mrs. Dillard and his daughters. He is warmly remembered and we are so glad to have known him.

Mr. Dillard was my teacher, my advisor, and my confidante while I was a St. Mary's girl. I am so sorry to hear of this loss and my prayers are with my old friend Hamer and your family.

So sorry to learn about Starke...He was one of my favorite first cousins...Also,
we enjoyed his so much at Christ Church,Charlotte when we lived there..

Please accept my sincerest condolences and genuine love. Sark was loved by many of us at Christ Church. Susan, I especially think of you at this time since I was your camp counselor at Vade Mecum long ago. We truly appreciate your family sharing Stark with all of us over the course of his ministry at Christ Church and at Saint Mary's and stops in between.

My sincere sympathy to the Dillard family. It is a blessing Starke lived a long life because there are many people who may never see his age. May Almighty God who provide comfort to us (2 Cor 1:3)be with you during this difficult time of your life.

While I was at St. Mary's Rev. Dillard was our priest. He was a good man and a wonderful priest (not just anyone could take such great care of so many young women at one time). I served as a Cup bearer and it made so very much difference in my life. I remember him well. Praying for "His peace beyond all understanding." Susan Dameron Fowler, class of '83C at St. Mary's.

I was a student at St. Mary's College, serving on the Chapel Vestry when Mr. Dillard came to be the Saint Mary's Chaplain. We loved his wit, his sense of humor, his wisdom and his zest for fun. The students of Saint Mary's loved Mr. Dillard! His was a life well-lived that touched so many.

Dear Dillard Family,

We were saddened by the news. Both Peggy and Pat have done an excellent job of making sure that all the Hamer families are aware. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers during this time and we send our love to each of you. Love to all Wilson Hamer on behalf of the Alfred Wilson Hamer Jr. family.

Uncle Starke showed me that real men can love Jesus. He helped me change my life, to set me on the path I am on today. Through him, I discovered the greatest gift a man can give his spouse and family, is a true love of the Lord first and foremost. Thank you Uncle Starke, I will miss you.

You might not remember me, but I was a neighbor when you lived in Smithfield and I used to play with the three Dillard girls - Jane, especially. I've never forgotten you. My own father, Max Creech, died four years ago, so I understand the heartache you are experiencing now. I hope it will help a little bit to know that others care and are praying for you. I am so saddened to learn of Starke's passing and have such fond memories of the Dillard Family while in Smithfield. His stellar wit & marvelous sense of humor were legendary. My late mother's most treasured possession was an oil painting Starke did when he was trying to quit smoking. Ironically the EKRATS signature had ashes in the corner! He was such a comfort to Dad when he was sick; Starke was a true & genuine friend to all the Holt's. I share miss him dearly. Amen.
