Stanley Nelson Obituary

Sept. 30, 1925 - July 28, 2008

Stanley 'Stan' C. Nelson, 82, of Vallejo passed away after a brief illness on July 28, 2008.

Born in Seattle, WA, he was a tugboat captain for 40 years. Employed for 27 years by Manson Construction in Seattle, he moved his family to Benicia in 1973 and worked for Marin Tow and Barge in Richmond, CA, retiring in 1988. He continued to live in Benicia until his wife Annette passed away in 2002. He then moved to Merrill Gardens in Vallejo, where he enjoyed the last few years of his life with the friends he made there. He loved gardening and traveling to visit his children and grandchildren. His love of family was most important to him and was something he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

He was president of the church council for several years for the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity and served as head of property for many years with the church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Annette Nelson, in 2002.

He is survived by his sons, Stan Nelson and Mark (Karin) Peterson; daughters, Karen (Paul) Martinez and Christine (Marc) Hynds; and 13 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 30, at 2 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 201 Doyle Drive, Vallejo, with Pastor Stephen Jackson officiating. His ashes will be scattered with his wife's off the coast of Marin in a private ceremony.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity Memorial Fund.
