Sophie Hilton-Hucks Obituary

HILTON-HUCKS, Sophie ALVIN, SC - Sophie Edna Hilton-Hucks, age 82, of Hucks Lane, died Monday, February 18, 2008 at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, SC. Mrs. Hilton-Hucks was born in Greenville, SC, a daughter of the late Peter Hillard and Lillian Knoxie Austin Trahan. She was a member of Life Baptist Church in St. Stephens, SC and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hilton-Hucks was a World War II Army Veteran and was a charter member of the Women's Army Corps. Prior to retirement, she was a nurse with Cheraw Hospital, St. Frances Hospital in Greenville and later was a nurse with home health. She was a direct descendant of the 36 original Acadian Families. Mrs. Hilton-Hucks was predeceased by her first husband, Jack McLaughlin Hilton and by her second husband, C.M. Hucks. Surviving are four sons, Robert Joseph Hilton and his wife, Donna Lynn of Wattsville, VA, Richard Thomas "Tommy" Hilton and his wife, Ida of Beach City, TX, Roger Matthews Hilton of Brunswick, ME and Mark Russell Hilton and his wife, Susan of Summerville, SC, one daughter, Rosemary Jeanette Hilton-Carter of Moncks Corner, SC; one step-daughter-in- law, Andrea Hucks of Conway; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Life Baptist Church in St. Stephens with Rev. Alfred Willis officiating.
