Shirley Yon Obituary

Shirley Yon N. Charleston - Shirley K. Yon, 87, of North Charleston, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021. Shirley was born on August 25, 1934 in Jefferson GA. She was the daughter of the late Clemon C. Kirk and Clara Jarrett Kirk. She is predeceased by: her husband, R. Neil Yon, Sr. and her sisters, Francis K. Bailey and Doris K. Hadden. Survivors include: her children: Robert N. Yon, Jr. (Sandy), Sandra E. Yon, and Michael A. Yon (Darlene); one sister: Joe Ann De Long; eight grandchildren: Kristy (Tommy), Dale (Cortney), Stacee, Billy (Kathleen), Chris, Ernesto (Jen), Michael, and Dylan; eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many adoptive children. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Shirley loved to love on people. She shared her love of cooking with all. She loved to have her table surrounded with people, love, and laughter. Shirley was a member of Holmes Avenue Baptist Church of North Charleston. She loved our Lord. Her life was a living example of Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ." Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, starting at 10AM with services starting at 12PM at Carolina Memorial Gardens 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Holmes Avenue Baptist Church, 4602 Durant Ave., North Charleston, SC 29405.
