Shirley Elaine Crosby Golden Meggett, SC - Shirley Elaine Crosby Golden, 72, of Meggett, South Carolina, wife of Charles "Andy" Andrew Golden entered into eternal rest Monday, March 5, 2018. The family will receive friends Friday, March 09, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 in Christ-St. Paul's Parish Church, 4981 Chapel Road at 3:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Christ-St. Paul's Parish Churchyard. Shirley Elaine Crosby Golden, 72, of Meggett, SC, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 5, 2018. Shirley was born September 15, 1945 in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Harry "Sam" Woodrow Crosby and Doris Weeks Crosby. She was a graduate of St. Paul's High School and Palmer Business College. After graduation from Palmer, she began her career at MUSC, retiring from the Department of Nephrology as Assistant Director. Shirley was a star basketball player and talented vocalist. Known in high school for her "hook shot", she averaged 23 points per game her senior year. She used her vocal ability to win the first Miss St. Paul's Pageant and competed in the 1964 Miss South Carolina Pageant. Because of her love for basketball, Shirley coached the Country Day girls' team, and led them to the conference championship in 1984. An avid dog lover, she reveled in the outdoors with her pets and flowers. At Goshen Plantation, their family home, she loved spending hours in the yard, fishing on the dock and entertaining family. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles "Andy" Andrew Golden of Meggett, SC; son, Charles "Drew" Andrew Golden, Jr., (Tammie) of Summerville, SC; two sisters, Claire Florio (David) of Charleston, SC, Vera Bonnell of San Antonio, TX, and granddaughter, Katherine McLean Golden. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Helen Crosby Sires (Burnat). Memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston or St. Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Yonges Island, SC.
