Shirley Embry SUMMERVILLE - Shirley Ann (Howard) Embry, 87, of Summerville, SC, passed away on March 17, 2025. Shirley was born on January 8, 1938 to Luther Thomas Howard and Claudia Ree Upshaw in Dodge County, GA. She is survived by her older sister, June Whittle of Chester, GA, her children, Ronald "Gene" Embry, Jr. of Taft, TN, Roger L. Embry of Stuttgart, Germany, Russell D. Embry of Salem, VA, and Melinda D. Lewis of Summerville, SC, eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Ronald G. Embry, Sr., her parents Luther Thomas Howard and Claudia Ree Upshaw and her brother, Leslie T. Howard. She attended school from first to 12 grade at Cadwell School, Cadwell, GA, where she played basketball. She attended Berry College for one year before getting married to Ronald. She attended church at Old Fort Baptist Church in Summerville. She was a member of the Daughter's of the Nile. She loved to visit the beach and shop. Visitation is Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm Carolina Memorial Funeral Home 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC. Service will begin after visitation in the Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel followed by internment at Carolina Memorial Park.
