My thoughts go out to the family. I know Great Aunt Shirley was a fighter, but now she is with her family and loved ones in heaven. I have memories of my Great Aunt Shirley from when I was young. We visited Charleston with our parents (Kristine & Bob Deiss). Great Aunt Shirley was so kind and welcoming. She was a very special lady and will be missed by many!

My memories of Aunt Shirley are of course her love for her family, people in need, and of course her dolls. I will always remember a trip to Charleston when I was little. I fell off of a park bench and split my chin open. Uncle Chuck was right there to stitch it up, but Aunt Shirley sat by my side the whole time, holding my hand. From that moment on I knew she was special. She is now in God's hands and back with Uncle Chuck.

I have very fond memories of visiting South Carolina when I was in about 2nd or 3rd grade. I can remember staying at Great Aunt Shirley's house and enjoying the beautiful scenery in and around Charleston. Aunt Shirley was full of love and someone whom I will always remember. I am happy to know my grandma, Audrey, is with her sister in heaven.

Even though I didn't know my Great Aunt Shirley very well, I will still miss her greatly. I remember the time I did spend South Carolina, it was only one visit and I was young, but I will keep the memories in my heart forever. One of the things I remember most, are the beautiful dolls she had. Shirley and my Grandma (Audrey) are together agian with God, I know they are taking good care of each other and looking down upon us. I will miss you Shirley.
Love, Alyssa

My only regret is that I wasn't able to spend more time with one of my favorite aunts. She was such a strong, passionate woman who loved her God and who loved her family. As I write this, I'm looking at a photo of her and my mom that I have posted on a bulletin board next to my computer. I love it because they are both so young -- Shirley in her WAVE uniform and my mom's arm entwined in hers, sisters forever. Now they are together again in God's arms! I miss them both...

Shirley was a dear friend of our aunt,
Josie Eller (died 2001). Shirley was a kind and loving person who loved to help others. She will surely be missed by all who knew her.

Jen and Julie, i am so sorry for your loss. I only met Nana once but i fell in love with her immediately. She was so sweet and cute. She was very proud of both of you, you could see it in the way she looked at you. Hold your head high and hang on to every memory. I'm here if anyone needs anything. Love you guys!!!

Dear Nana: Even though my family left Charleston about 20 years ago, I still remember vividly your generous heart and wonderful sense of humor, and delicious cooking!! You were such a dear friend of our family, and I cherished the porcelain toys you made for my sisters and me. I thank God for bringing you into our lives, and for holding you in His arms now. May He bless your family during this time.

Dearest Shirley:
Peter, I, and my three daughters will treasure our Charleston time together forever. The porcelain dolls in my curio and the mini ceremic lighted Christmas trees you taught the girls to make that we displayed every year during Christmas season are just a few reminder of your energy, laugher, generosity, and great love. We will see you again in heaven.

This is for Shirley, one of my best friends who is in heaven waiting for me: You were not supposed to get there before me!!! But I love you anyway.
For all of you who are missing her so much----do rejoice for her because she is where she really wants to be, and know that I am missing her also.
My love to you all.
