Sherriann Bacon Obituary

Sherriann Margaret Bacon N. CHARLESTON - Sherriann Margaret Bacon, 74, of North Charleston, South Carolina, died Friday, October 13, 2017. Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the Church of The Holy Cross, 299 Seven Farms Drive on Daniel Island, SC, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends in the Church Hall immediately following the service. Inurnment following the service will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, James Island. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Sherriann was born June 29, 1943 in Columbus, Georgia, daughter of the late Jeremiah Martin Bacon, Jr.and Effie Runnels Bacon. Sherriann spent her childhood in Charleston and graduated from Bishop England High School in 1962. Sherriann received a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Millersville University in PA and her Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Temple University. She worked as a social worker in Arizona and Nevada and retired with the Nevada State Department of Social Services where she was a specialist in Foster Care and Child Protective Services. While in Nevada, Sherriann was an advocate for a Native America Tribe. She was a dedicated volunteer for the Wednesday's Child Program in Las Vegas and honed her public speaking skills as a member of a Las Vegas Toastmaster's Club. After retiring to her beloved childhood home of Charleston, Sherriann continued to serve her community as a member of The Greater Charleston Rotary Club Auxiliary. Sherriann loved history, photography and was an avid world traveler who loved unusual adventures! Sherriann had many dear lifelong friends and made many new friends throughout her travels. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Brian R. Ackerman of West Chester, PA, Paul B. Ackerman of Bozeman, MT; two granddaughters, Kathryn H. Ackerman and Charlotte M. Ackerman; brother, Jeremiah M. Bacon III (Billie) of Daniel Island, SC; nieces and nephews, Jeremiah M. Bacon IV (Liz), Elizabeth A. Bacon, Rev. Craig M. Stephans, (Melissa), Chris Stephans Kaiser (Karl); grand niece and nephew, Madeline Stephans and Jack Stephans.
