Sheila J. Mays, 79, of Benton died Thursday, January 20, 2022, at her home. She was born the daughter of the late Eugene Hamby and the late Valetta Joe Locke. Sheila has worked for the Benton Walmart for 27 years. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbertsville. She enjoyed collecting antiques and stamps, but most of all Sheila loved her family.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbertsville, KY with Jonathan Goodman officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Miles officiating the graveside. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 10:00 am until the funeral hour. Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home in Paducah is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years: Sam Mays; her sons: Jonathan (Jenny) Mays of Benton and James (Heather) Mays of Gilbertsville; her daughters: Mary Jo Mays of Dixon, TN and Gina (Randy) Penney of Toledo, OH; her brother: Wallace (Pam) Locke of Carol Stream, IL; fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her son: Robert Mays and her granddaughter: Gabriella Mays.
