Like everyone,I was shocked to hear of Shawn's passing!He and my son,Mark Chickering,were roommates at Winthrop and we all ran the Cooper River Runs together,and had lunch with you and Shawn before! We all are so sorry for your loss and will continue to have you in our thoughts and prayers! Shawn was so special to so many and will be truly missed !

Like Helen below, you don't know me either... but I just wanted to let you know that Shawn was not only taking care of my investments but had become a friend, as well. His way of talking with me and helping me to decide what was best for my financial future was SO REFRESHING! I know you know the characteristics I'm talking about. He was a wonderful human being. I will miss him as I'm sure all of his clients will. I am praying that your family will find some peace through all of this.

Elizabeth, Although you an I never met I knew Shawn from the middle schools days at Wallace through high school at Middleton. I have always remembered Shawn as a person who always smiled and welcomed any person as a friend. The impressions Shawn left upon this earth will always be remembered and we are all better people by having the opportunity to know him.

You do not know me, but I have known your husband for several years. He was assigned my family's investment account, after Hank Sanders retired. Since then, he has been a valued and trusted advisor to my family. News of his death has stunned us all and left us deeply saddened. I just don't have the words to appropriately express how sorry I am for you and your family. All I can offer is the knowledge that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many, many people right now, and it is my hope that this support will sustain you in the coming days.

I was only fortunate enough to know Shawn for a few years once my family moved to Daniel Island in 2008, but that's all it took for me to consider myself fortunate to have been his friend. He was my son's first football coach, and he was the best. They went 8-0 that year and were the champs, an indeilble imprint on my son's mind forever. He was such an engaging and caring person, and his personality was infectious to anyone that happened to be around him. That was a couple of years ago, but I would still see him at the gas station or at the park on occassion, and he would always ask how little Haddon was doing, and it was always genuine.....not just passing the time. As the crowd at your funeral showed today Shawn, you will be sorely missed. Godspeed to Elizabeth, Allen, & Emily, and to all of the Myers and Shaw family members. Rest in Peace Shawn!

Elizabeth, my heart broke when I heard Sean had passed away and cannot imagine the pain you, your children, and those who knew him personally are going through. I have been praying that Christ would give you comfort and peace in a way that surpasses understanding as I KNOW He can do.

I knew Shawn from Wallace Middle School and Middleton High School. On occasion, I would see him downtown. I can't believe he's gone. My prayers go out to his wonderful family during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Shawn!

I was friends with Shawn in high school, and didn't know a single soul who didn't love him. I only ran into him a few times in our adult lives, and we last chatted about 4 years ago. What I remember about that conversation was his talking about how much he loved being a dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your beautiful family. I first met Shawn at Winthrop. Shawn was one of the popular Sig Eps :) I dated a Sig Ep, and his roommate dated my roommate. Several years later we both ended up on DI. Elizabeth, my prayers are with you, the children and your families at this most difficult time.

So saddened by the news, but heaven has truly welcomed an angel among the choir! I met Shawn at Winthrop and enjoyed every minute of time with him - a true gentleman, kind hearted, wonderful friend. My sincere condolences to his wife and entire family.

I knew Shawn when I worked @ PYA Monarch. He was always kind and positive. My condolences to the family.

I knew Shawn many years ago, during our high school days. I was so saddened to hear of his passing. He was always a smiling and happy person. He was friendly and kind and truly a joy to be around. My heart goes out to your beautiful family as you face this terrible loss. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Shawn while attending Winthrop University and was fortunate to be one of his fraternity brothers. I remember Shawn as a true gentleman and a friend. The last time I saw Shawn was at the SC Sigma 25th Anniversary Weekend – July 20-22, 2012. I remember many wonderful, funny, and monumental experiences that weekend.
I will never forget Shawn or seeing him with many of his lifelong friends, head back laughing, and him sharing with me how much he loved being a husband and a father. I called Shawn "Mr. Charleston" - a town he truly loved. He will be missed.

I have nothing but great memories of Shawn. He was such a good friend growing up (through high school and college). My only regret is not staying in better touch with Shawn these past few years. My sincere condolences to his family, his wife and his children. May Shawn's memory be eternal.

I got to know Shawn through tennis at Family Circle. Not only was he a heck of a tennis player, but an all around great guy. On a hot morning last year, I was running by your house in DI Park. Shawn was outside throwing the football with your son and noticed how fatigued I was. He stopped what he was doing, ran under the house and brought out a couple of ice cold bottled waters to help me cool down. It was a small gesture, but one that shows the type of person Shawn was; always thinking of others. He will be missed. Your family is in our prayers.
