Sharon Kay Jones, 71, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on August 18, 2025, surrounded by love and prayer. Born on December 15, 1953, in Waukegan, Illinois, she was the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Lilly McKendrick (King). A dedicated and compassionate registered nurse, Sharon devoted her career to caring for others, always offering a gentle hand and a listening ear. Her nurturing spirit extended well beyond her profession - through her active volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and her local church, Sharon lived a life of service guided by her strong Christian faith. A devout churchgoer and faithful member of her Bible study group, Sharon found deep joy in fellowship, worship, and helping others. She had a natural warmth that made everyone feel like family, and she cherished time spent with those she loved most. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald H. Jones, her granddaughter, Leia, and her parents. Sharon is survived by her devoted son, Jared Shapiro, his wife Dimitra, and her treasured granddaughter Katerina. She also leaves behind cousins, friends, her church family, and many others whose lives were brightened by her kindness and strength. Sharon had a playful, creative side - she was an avid collector of handbags and whimsical cookie jars, and she had a soft spot for dogs. Her laughter, generosity, and comforting presence will be missed beyond words. A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at her home church in Summerville, with details to be shared by the family.
