Dear Tim and Linda,
I have wanted to write you since I learned of Shari's illness and death. You and your family have been in my thoughts and my prayers since December. I was not able to find your mailing address so I am hoping I can reach you through this guest book.
I have not written you sooner because I have felt inadequate when it came to choosing the words that might lessen your pain. We plan for our own death and fully expect our children to survive us. That is the way it should be. Having a child die before we do is possibly the most painful thing a parent can ever face. I do not understand why a young person who brings so much joy to others and who contributes so much is taken from us so early.I suppose the answer is in our faith. I know Shari is one of God's angels now but I also know how painful this is for you and her husband. I pray that God gives you the strength you will need to get through every hour, every day, every month. Grief is a very personal thing but when the time is appropriate, I hope you will recall this quote attributed to Dr Seuss.
" Do not cry for all you have lost. Instead, when you think of Shari, smile. Smile for the beautiful memories you have of her and remember the joy she gave so many.I know she was a blessing to all those youngsters she helped as well as to you.

To the Payne family, I would like to send my prayers and my love. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Shari but I knew her father, Tim, as a mentor, leader, and friend and he is very dear to me. My heart goes out to you in this difficult time.

Shari was one of the best speech pathologists that I have ever worked with. She always sought to find new and better ways to help her students communicate. Her inner strength and courage were an inspiration to me. God has a new angel who will look over us.

I was fortunate enough to participate in Shari's journey as a part of her rehab team. I remember the day I met her about 2 years ago and as she spoke about her looming challenge, I was so inspired by her optimism. She fought the good fight and her bravery and smile left an imprint on my heart that I know will last for many many years. God Bless her family and I know she left you with lots of reasons to smile.

My sincerest condolences to Shari's family and friends. I worked in Dorchester 4 and thought very highly of Shari. She had a wonderful personality and a great work ethic. I was in payroll when she last worked with us and hated to see her leave the first time to go to Japan and work; then she returned and all was well again. But her health was deteriorating and she was forced to retire much too soon. Shari was a very special person and I will miss her.
