I was stunned to learn of Shane's passing. I first met him in Charleston, SC when he was barely out of his teens. His Mom, Mavis and I worked together at Charleston AFB. Shane often dropped by for a visit, and it was my pleasure and joy to watch him progress through his training, marriage, and career. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and students; he touched us all with his grace and sense of humor. He was taken away from us far too soon.

I met Shane in South Korea along with friends Ken Monroe and Joe Koz. The four of us ended up sharing a beach house in Myrtle Beach for a year. Even though we were supposed to trade off making dinner each day Shane was always there to help.
He always had a smile on his face! We'll miss you Shane!

My thoughts and prayers are with you Lori, Trevor and Mavis. I am in shock and there are no words to express the pain I feel for all of you. I instantly thought of Rene and Michael when we were all so young living in Moncks Corner, some of the best years of my life. Love you all.
