Scott O'Brien GOOSE CREEK - Scott Blake O'Brien, 61, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023. Born on December 23, 1961 in Summerville, MA, he was a son of Ann Libby O'Brien and Ralph O'Brien. Scott spent decades working as a craftsman in trade work. When he wasn't working, he was an avid baseball player and exceptional coach to his son, Blake, nephew, Keith, and many others. He took pride in teaching the game and watching the growth of his players. Scott spent many Saturdays at the Oaks Golf Course. Scott spent the last several years cheering for his grandkids in their sports. Scott is preceded in death by his son, Blake C. O'Brien; his father, Ralph O'Brien and his brother, Wayne O'Brien. Scott is survived by his mother, Ann O'Brien (Harry); daughters, Ashley Taylor (Jamie) and Devon Beach (Andrew); daughter-in-law, Lauren O'Brien; grandchildren: Austin Meisner, Sean Taylor, Christopher O'Brien, Addyson O'Brien, Layton Beach, Emerson Beach, Jr. and Archer O'Brien; his sisters, Laurie O'Brien and Kelly Vernarec (Steve), as well as many nieces and nephews and the mother of his children, Amy O'Brien. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 26th, with a service to follow at 2:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek, SC. The burial will be held at Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens in Moncks Corner, South Carolina immediately following the service.
