I had several classes with Scott at SM North, and would see him in the halls and we'd wave and maybe chat. And I think maybe I saw him at a small SMN reunion a while back. I remember him to be an absolutely nice, and outstanding guy, to everyone.

My condolences to his wife and family. May your memories sustain you and bring you peace.

I am just hearing this news! I am so sorry for your loss. I met Scott when I worked at BB&T and we became fast friends. He was one of the kindest people I ever met. He was amazingly smart and I learned so much from him. I will be forever blessed by his friendship. Heaven definitely got an angel. RIP my friend.

I was shocked to hear this news. I work in commercial real estate here in Charleston and he was someone who I always looked forward to interacting with for business deals, or seeing out and about around town. Our industry lost a good one. My condolences to his family and friends.

This one hurts. Coach Scott was an incredible man, I had the privilege of having him as a baseball coach playing for him in the Mount Pleasant Recreation league. He brought so much energy and passion to the game he loved and he always inspired us with his pregame speeches on how we needed to play together as a team and postgame speeches on how we leave the field as better men. Scott would always be hitting balls off the fungo bat before games and I can always remember him hitting it so far I knew to just start running backwards so I would even have a chance.

He also knew how to have fun as I can remember for one all star baseball practice he brought a bunch of fruit - apples, oranges, peaches you name it. Turns out the fruit was for hitting and not eating. Only Scott had that sense of humour while still mixing in a serious practice. I will treasure the memories I had with Scott on the Mount Pleasant baseball All Star teams and wish Jake and his family all the best moving forward. RIP Scott.

Scott became a close friend of mine in high school, and we shared a common interest in motorcycles. After quitting college for a year I bumped into Scott unexpectedly and renewed our friendship. Within three months I was living with him and two other friends in Lawrence, and switched my major to Geology, which was Scott's major. We graduated together two years later. I am grateful for the friendship we enjoyed. My personal journey with Jesus Christ began after college, so knowing that Scott attended a church where Jesus is proclaimed as Savior and Lord is comforting.

I've known Scott for many years through the bank. He was such a nice mix of intelligence and gentleness. Cynthia, he adored you... and was so proud of Jakob. Please know my prayers are with you and your family. May God comfort you with great memories and an eternal hope through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Scott coached my boy at Moultrie and along with Fred to this day hold the record for most kind words said from my 14 year old about a coach. He touched his heart. He became a good friend thru baseball and Christ. We spent many a nights texting in support of each other and several services at Seacoast with our shields up shedding tears together. One of the toughest men I've ever known. I'm a Missouri Tiger and he is a Kansas Jayhawk. Two bitter rivals that we joked about all the time. I wish I has just one more chance to make him happy by letting a Mizzou boy say, "Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk".

Love you man.

I met Scott in 2010 on a baseball field in Mount Pleasant. That season we coached against each other in the same league. I was immediately taken by his passion for the game coupled with his undying commitment to coaching life lessons as well as baseball fundamentals. He was a mentor to me before we even became friends, and was more than deserving of his honor in 2010 as MPRD Baseball Volunteer of the year. I was fortunate enough to absorb so much of his approach while watching him from the other dugout. Our friendship was cemented in the following year when we had the opportunity to coach together, along with Fred Rodewoldt, the 2011 Mount Pleasant all star team for our boy's age bracket. Lifetime memories were made that summer for sure. All three of us continued to coach even after our boys grew out of the Mount Pleasant program. I have no doubt that Scott's passion for the game and coaching the youth of MPRD inspired that. Scott made me a better coach, mentor, and father.
Scotty you will always remain a true friend and mentor. You will forever be on my mind and in my heart. Much love!
