Sarah Meyer Mt. Pleasant - Sarah 'Sally' Meyer, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2017, at the age of 88. Born on December 2, 1928, to the late Guillelmine and Charles Rogers, she spent most of her childhood in Laurel Park, NC, and Charleston, SC. Sally married her first husband, James Bryant, in 1948. She was a devoted wife and mother to their children, Alexander and Susan Bryant. Sadly, the early death of their son caused too much heartache for the family to bear. Aside from loving her family, Sally's calling in life was that of a teacher. Throughout her career, she sought to instill a love of learning in her students. Sally married her second husband, artist James Meyer, in July of 1989, and moved from Hendersonville, NC, to Mt. Pleasant, SC. The two of them became a great team as she promoted Jim's art at Seagull Art Gallery and many festivals where his work was displayed. They were married for 27 years until his death in 2016. In addition to her parents, husband, and son, Sally was preceded in death by her brother, Randolph Harrison; sister, Elizabeth Harrison Seligman; and dearly loved sister-in-law, Opal Deason. Sally is survived by her daughter, Susan Bryant of Mills River, NC; granddaughters Sarah Gibson and Alexis Nowak; stepdaughters, Kathleen Emde and Jean Hanna; stepson, James Meyer Jr.; two great-grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held in her honor at 2pm on Saturday, September 9, at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave., N. Charleston, SC. 29406.
