Sarah Briley Obituary

Joey, Wanda, I don't know where to begin.... I just found out about your mom, and I want to convey my sincere condolences. My mother, Susie, loved your mother as the best of friends, and many of my mom's fondest memories were of your mom and their travels, going from one bowling tourney to another. I don't think they could ever run out of things to talk about. My mom loved that yours would always call a spade a spade--none of all that "sweetie-pie Southern talk" that my mom had been taught growing up! I reaped the benefit of their friendship by getting to come over to your house and learn basketball from the best. Wanda, I don't know why you kindly took me under your wing, but I am forever thankful (I remember the tips you gave me in 7th grade when I was trying out for JV, to this day!). Their friendship also invited the development of an invaluable "penpal" friendship between Joey and me throughout high school--I can't imagine high school without those zillion letters going back and forth! I have lived away from Mt. Pleasant now for 50 years. Some of my memories have faded, but your mom and your family remain a part of my heart to this day. Again, I give you my condolences. What a wonderful lady! Made many memories with her playing cards and going on cruises. I am truly blessed to have known her.
