Sarah Blue Obituary

Sarah Brumbelow Blue CHARLESTON - Sarah Brumbelow Blue, aged 79, passed away on May 7, 2024 in Charleston, SC. Sarah was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. Early in her career, she worked for the Federal Reserve of Atlanta, where she met and later married Powell Blue. Together they had many adventures, including raising their children and living in Atlanta, Asheville, Sydney, Melbourne, Los Angeles and finally Charleston. She was a loving wife and mother, ensuring her children had opportunities to explore sports, music, dance or whatever the interest of the moment. While she didn't particularly love cooking, she was an excellent cook, especially of traditional southern dishes; her fried chicken was a favorite. Sarah returned to banking after her children grew older, working for C&S and Wachovia before retiring and relocating to Sydney. Sarah was passionate about her family, beloved pets, movies, fashion, pop music, shopping, college basketball, the NFL, birds and wildlife. She was also fortunate to enjoy many lifelong friends. She is survived by son, Matthew Blue of Charleston, SC, daughter, Jessica Cunningham (Chris) of Raleigh, NC, stepson,, Powell Blue, Jr. (Tammy) of Chattanooga, TN as well as her six beloved grandsons: Zachary, Graham, Noah, Micah, Jackson and Nicholas. Sarah is preceded in death by her husband, Powell Blue, parents, Lula Moore Brumbelow and Benjamin "BF" Brumbelow, sister, Jennie Brumbelow Gellatly Smith, and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Roper Hospital, Amedisys Hospice, and especially Benton House of West Ashley for their loving care. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11 at 3:00p.m. in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends from 2:00p.m. until the time of the service. Interment and a graveside service will be held Monday, May 13 at 3:00p.m. at Arlington Memorial Park at 201 Mount Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, GA. I am so very sorry to hear of Sarah's passing. She was a beautiful woman. I knew her from the bank she worked at in Asheville. She was always so sweet and caring and I loved talking with her. Although I lost touch with her as we moved out of state I thought of her often. My heart goes out to her entire family.
