Sarah Armstrong Obituary

Sarah Waddill Armstrong SEABROOK ISLAND, SC - Sarah Waddill Armstrong lost her battle with a rare cancer on Monday, May 29, shortly after celebrating her 70th birthday. Sarah was born May 21, 1953 in New York, New York. She grew up in Moncks Corner, SC, graduating from Berkeley High School. She went on to graduate from the College of Charleston and followed in her mother's footsteps and became an elementary school teacher, retiring after nearly 30 years as an educator. Having battled and beat breast cancer several years ago, she is the true definition of a fighter. From the time of her recent diagnosis to her death, Sarah underwent 55 treatments and a lifesaving 12-hour surgery at MUSC. Sarah loved being in nature and knew so much about the flora and fauna of the south from the mountains of Saluda, North Carolina to the beach at Pawleys Island, South Carolina. She loved her family and was a dear friend to many and her most favorite role was as "Nana" to her two grandchildren. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, David Michael; parents, John Miller Waddill and Mary Ellen Waddill and her brother, Samuel Erickson Waddill. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Rose; son, M. Ross (Elizabeth) and grandchildren, Camilla Clark and Bedford Charles all of Charleston, SC. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Virginia Smith (Kim) of Greenville SC, brother, John Miller Waddill of Moncks Corner, SC and her brother-in-law, Robert Leo Armstrong of Walls, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider making a donation to the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center. The details of her celebration of life will follow at a later date. I loved my precious Sarah! She was an awesome friend! When we were little girls, we loved it when her wonderful mother would load all of the girls in her car and take us to the Berkeley Country Club to go swimming in the pool!!! It was so much fun!!!!
Sarah and I became very good swimmers, and we learned to dive!
(She was much better than me.) The beautiful memories we shared, I will always cherish!!!!
God bless all of you!
Love always,
Daisy Hamer Parker

Thinking of you two young people, losing both parents at such a young age. I have known Sarah and the Waddill family my whole life and have wonderful memories from Pinopolis and Moncks Corner. May you comfort each other and know you are loved.

My prayers are with all of you during this very sad time. Sarah and I were childhood friends. We rode our ponies all over the neighborhood. Then we both got horses. One time we rode our horses, Angel and Pride and Joy, to Pinopolis and spent the night with Sarah's sweet grandmother. Grandmother Schumann treated us like we were true princesses!
Sarah and I were good friends in high school, too!
I will always cherish all the wonderful memories Sarah and I shared. God bless all of you.
Love always,
Daisy

I am so sadden to hear of the death of your beautiful mother. We were friends in Moncks Corner in the Land O' Pines. Ross, I remember you well. You were a toddler. May our heavenly Father comfort you and give you the strength needed in the days ahead. Much love, Debbie Page Flood.
