Dr. Purcell and Family, it is with very fond memories of your wife, mother, and grandmother, that I am writing this message. Mrs. Purcell was such a wonderful and loving woman with the most beautiful smile that I have ever seen. As a young African American male growing up in the south, during a time when not everyone was "accepting" of someone like me studying ballet. Mrs. Purcell always made me feel as if I were one of her own, especially when she accompanied us on several trips to New York City. She would always encourage and tell me how good a dancer I was. She was always cheering me on. Her "hugs" would always make me feel that everything would be alright and that I "belonged" and that I would one day a great ballet dancer. I may have not become one of the greatest dancers, but because of people like Mrs. Purcell I did rise to become a principal dancer with a world renowned ballet company. May she forever rest in Peace and may you all know that she made a big difference in my life and I will be forever grateful for the way she made me feel.

I was so sorry to see Sara's obituary. I have such fond memories of her from Robert Ivey Ballet. Sara was such a dedicated supporter and board member. We had the best of times when we travelled to Denmark and Russia. I always picture her with a smile. My sincere condolences to her family.
