Sara Phillips Hughes MT. PLEASANT - Sara Phillips Hughes, 86, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Charles Henry Hughes, entered into eternal rest Friday, June 27, 2025. A graveside service for family and close friends will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025 in Eutawville Cemetery at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. Sara was born October 31, 1938, in Marion, South Carolina, daughter of the late Marvin L. Phillips and the late Marjorie Lane Phillips. After graduating Columbia College and marrying Charlie, she started a career as an elementary school teacher. Later, she was a successful realtor in Myrtle Beach and Aiken, South Carolina. Sara and Charlie were married over 50 years until his death. Sara was incredibly supportive of him and his banking career while living in six different cities in South Carolina. She loved spending time with her family and was very active in her Church and her community. Sara was the epitome of a true Southern lady and was beloved by all her family and friends. She is survived by children: Chuck Hughes (Cheryl) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Cheryl H. Ward (Steve) of Mount Pleasant, SC; grandchildren: Sarah Beth Thie (Doug), Taylor Hughes (Hope), Harrison Hughes (Hattie), Sam Ward (Ariana Gibson), and Hannah Pacheco (Sage); great-grandchildren: Ella Grace Thie, Lulie Thie, Millie Thie, and Wren Hughes; sibling: Marjorie Ward. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lowell Phillips and Larry Phillips.
