Sara Gordon Obituary

Sara Stone Gordon CHARLESTON - Sara Stone Gordon, 93, of Charleston, entered into eternal rest, Tuesday, January 10, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Friday, January 13, 2023, at Saint John Catholic Church, 3921 Saint Johns Ave., North Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. The Rosary will be recited at 6:45 PM. Sara was born March 09, 1929, a daughter of the late Walter M. Stone and Nora Cox Stone in Westminster, SC. She married the love of her life, James H. Gordon, Jr., on October 12, 1947. They were married for 58 years, before his passing in 2006. Sara was an active member of Saint John Catholic Church, where she volunteered frequently. She was also a member of the Women's Guild, and retired from Park Circle Elementary. In addition to her husband and parents, Sara was predeceased by four brothers, four sisters, and an infant son. Sara is survived by her children, Nora Virginia "Ginny" North (Edward), John B. Gordon (Jennifer), James H. Gordon III (Vickie); her grandchildren, Heather L. Buckner (William) and Nicole M. Nichols; her great-grandchild, Rylee Nichols; her brothers, Walter M. Stone, Jr. (Barbara) and Verlon E. Stone; her very special niece, Charlene Reuwer; her loving caregiver, Kerish Richardson; and finally her lifelong best friend, Micki Hanson.
