Sandra Marie Walker Stokes-Byars HANAHAN - Sandra Marie (Walker) Stokes-Byars, 82, of Hanahan SC, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Viviant Healthcare of Hanahan in SC. Sandra was born in Columbia, SC to Willie Walker and Marie Walker-Maupin on October 15, 1939. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Blondel Brooks; husband Joe C. Stokes, and husband, William Byars. She is survived by siblings: Shirley Evans of Chicago, IN, Brenda Jett of Middleburg, FL, Kenneth Maupin of Santa Clara, CA; daughter, Cathy Mitchell (Darrell) of Summerville, SC, sons, David Stokes of Moncks Corner, SC, Jeff Stokes of Willow Springs, MO; four grandchildren: Wayne Suiter (Angela) of Goose Creek, SC, Jenny Suiter of Eutawville, SC, Lee Stokes (Diana) of Lacey, Washington, Michael Stokes of Nashville, TN; and four great-grandchildren: Kyle Milner of Goose Creek, SC, Elliot Suiter of Goose Creek, SC, Joseph Stokes and Zachary Stokes of Lacey, WA; and her lifelong close relationship with cousin, Margaret Ruth Wilson (Columbia, SC). Her passion was gardening and making a home for her family wherever the Navy sent Joe and Sandra, finally returning to and retiring in their home in Goose Creek. She was loved by family and friends alike with her sweet smile, gentle voice and laugh. Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. at Simplicity-Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services, 281 Treeland Drive, Ladson, SC.
