Sandra Condon Obituary

Sandra McCormack Condon Charleston - Entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 1, 2021, Sandra Joan McCormack Condon, wife of Thomas C. Condon. She was born January 20, 1951, in Birmingham, Alabama, a daughter of Carroll R. McCormack and Vivian Lowery McCormack. Sandra attended high school at Banks in Birmingham and has a degree in Nuclear Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina. She practiced as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at MUSC for years as well as the Veterans Hospital. To say Sandra was 'one of a kind' is an understatement. She was a beauty in every sense of the word. Sandra was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She had a smile that came from her heart for everyone. Her infectious spirit can be felt by all who are blessed to know her. To know her was to love her and she was loved by so many, near and far, young and old. Sandra was married to Tommy for 50 years-an example of true strength for Sandra! It was love at first sight for Tommy and Sandra when they met in Birmingham. After they married, they moved back to Charleston, where Tommy has deep roots. Tommy adored Sandra and felt like the luckiest man to call her his wife. He credits Sandra for being instrumental in developing his foundation in the restaurant business and always commented he wouldn't be anywhere without her. Sandra was the best mother to her four daughters. She gave her everything to motherhood and would do anything for her girls. Sandra loved her children and grandchildren with everything she had and was always saying "I love you", sometimes several times in one conversation! (Several times a day) She instilled love in her daughters, as well as strength, resilience and encouraged them to have faith in themselves. Sandra was a volunteer, always active at the schools her girls attended and played a vital role in their education. She was always a familiar face at Bishop England High School as the cheerleading coach and loved every minute cheering on the Battling Bishops! She was strong in mind, body and spirit. Sandra was an empathetic soul and was always helping others. Anyone who met Sandra loved her and felt lucky to call her a friend. She had a way of connecting with people and making people feel connected to her. Sandra was as real as they come and loved with all her heart. Her front door was always open and has been home to many besides family throughout the years. She loved her girlfriends and had several groups she looked forward to spending time with each week and throughout the year on special occasions. Sandra was a lover of nature and all creatures big and small. She loved her horse, Rhett and the horse barn was a second home to her for many years. The neighborhood dogs knew where the treats were on the front porch where Sandra would be sitting, waiting to give them out. The neighborhood friends knew where they could have a treat too-a glass of wine with Sandra and Tommy on the porch. Sandra loved being in the country at Bennett's Point with Tommy, where they would watch the sunsets on the porch and the egrets at the point. Sandra was a lover of life and her spirit was magnetic. She will be dearly missed. May we all take a little bit of Sandra and weave it into our lives moving forward with love, strength and a passion for life through our family, friends and animals! She is survived by her husband, Tommy, her children: Tracy Condon, Chris Bailey (Colm), Tyler Condon and Ali-Rose Condon; her grandchildren: Thomas Condon, Rowan and Sadie Bailey, Shyla Condon and Ren Condon as well as an older brother, Charles McCormack and a younger sister, Trisha Stover. Sandra's nickname was 'Chocolate' and her grandchildren called her 'Sasa'. She loved her Hibernian Society family, hosted a New Year's Day party at her home and enjoyed the back bar crowd after church on Sunday's. A Private Funeral Service will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery attended by immediate family. A reception to celebrate her life will be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to The Hibernian Society, 105 Meeting St., Charleston, SC 29401. Arrangements by James A. McAlister, Inc. (843) 766-1365. Sandra and I were in x-ray and nuclear medicine school together. Sandra was always a happy person and made our college days at M.U.S.C. much livelier and interesting. She took us to lunch on the Yorktown, where Tommy had a snack bar. Also took us to Jimmy Dengates for lunch. She was always a joy to be around and I know she will be missed by many! I smile when remembering all the fun times we had. My deepest sympathy to Tommy and the Condon family.

Sandra was one of the sweetest and kindest person that I knew -- she would always take the time to not only talk to you but was genuinely interested in everything about you and your family. She never hesitated to ask if you needed anything or just wanted to talk -- her smile made you feel good no matter what kind of day you may be having - her love for her girls and Tommy was unstoppable and her life truly devoted to them. She was beautiful inside and out - truly heaven has gained another angel. My love, prayers and sympathy to Tommy and all his girls and family.
