Dad,
Its hard to believe that 12 years ago today we had to say goodbye. A day doesn't go by that I don't think about you, or I want to pick up the phone to call you because I have a fix it problem and I need your advice on it.
Please know that you are thought of, loved and sadly missed.

Mr. Sam was my next door neighbor/ second father when I was a kid. I lived next door to the Helmick family in the early 80's. Mr. Sam instilled in me a love for our country, when I was 17 I joined the Navy. Mr. Sam taught me how to work with wood, after Desert Storm I became a carpenter. Mr. Sam taught me to be fearless. He used to feed an alligator that lived in a pond in the neighborhood raw chicken attached to a stick. (Which probably wasn't too safe but it AMAZED all the kids that would gather to watch him.)He was one of the most influential adults that I remember from my childhood. Now, I'm a father of 3 sons and I'm passing along some of the things that I learned from him to my boys. Thank you Mr. Sam.

Don and I were you next door neighbors for nearly 8 years. There was always a smile and a helping hand from Sam. He was always there to help the neighbors. We are so sorry for your loss.

Dear Dad,
I just needed to tell you Dad that I will be okay. I will soldier on. Dad thank you for being you my friend , confidant and for being Dad. I am honored to have been gifted from God with a Dad like you. As I watched you fight, your will to live I now realize your final lesson to me is to fight for right, fight for those I Love and to fight to live life to its fullest. So Dear Dad I thank you for your lessons of life and your gift of love. And know that you will always be loved and missed by Daddy's Little Girl.

To the Helmick family. My prayers are with you in this time of need. I worked with Sam in the shipyard. Always a hard worker and always ready to tackle any job. My deepest condolences.

My heart goes out to you on the loss of your husband and father. I hope that you will find comfort in your memories and support from each other and your friends. May God be with each of you.
