I am truly sadden at hearing the news of your passing, your voice and your joyous spirit will be forever missed. I will long remember the long conversations and debates you, Rev. Simmons, Rev. Carthen and I use to have at the Waffle House, discussing everything for church, societal, and political issues, and now our Waffle House forum is no more. Rev. Dennis I thank you for your words, your insights, and guidance as I pursue ministry, they will always be remembered.

I remember that day when me, you, and Sparkman went down to Burke High School at the request of Lonnie Hamilton to audition for a band scholarship to goto college and got it. One for Livingstone College and the other for Alabama State. We all pass the audition and receive the scholarship.
We choose Livingstone and upon arriving on campus met a lot of Charlestonian that march in the band. They were from C.A. Brown and Burke High School.
Had one young lady from Burke name Myra Thompson (one of the Emanuel Nine who was slain at her church) she played flute. We look out for her like a sister because she was the only Charlestonian female in the band.
A lot of folks out there did not know that you were a great percussionist (snare drum). Tell em Sam, that Drum Line movie that those youngsters was excited about and is now doing in their drum performance at half time, we were doing that since High School and College (Laugh) in fact we lived it during our high school and college years. So much to talk about, so much memories of this great man God has place in our lives.
Thanks for being a part of our class of 1974 at Bonds-Wilson High School and at livingstone College For those Brothers and Sister in Christ we will see Sam again.

We were so shocked to hear about the passing of Sam. May God keep you during this difficult time. Sam was truly a Man of God. We will be praying for your family.

YOU AND MY DAD ARE FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES IN THE MINISTRY AND HE MISSES YOU AS WELL! WE CAN ALL TAKE A CHAPTER OUT OF YOUR BOOK AND LEARN A LITTLE EACH DAY! I'M GOING ALL THE WAY!
