Samantha Ponder Obituary

PONDER, Samantha Samantha Marie Ponder, 54, beloved wife of Luther (Luke) Michael Ponder joined her Lord in Heaven on Sunday morning, October 12, 2008. She was born May 1, 1954 in Marion, South Carolina. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones. She was employed by Rick Hendrick Auto and was a member of Northbridge Baptist Church, West Ashley. Sam had a wonderful spirit. She loved life and always had an ability to make others love her. She suffered the loss of her daughter, Nicole Watts and her unborn grandson, Christian, in 1997 at the hands of four teenaged boys with a gun on Wadmalaw Island. She felt if she could have the strength to make it through that, she could make it through anything. However, she wasn't able to overcome her pancreatic cancer and suffered with it for 18 months before she died. She loved the Lord and was ready to meet him when she left us. Sam is survived by her husband, Luke; stepchildren: Blake Ponder and Bryce Hughes; mother-in-law, Mariann D. Schulken of Charleston; brother, Alan Richardson of Marion, SC; brothers and sisters-in-law: Christine and Billy Tilson; Kathy and Donnie Boyer; Barbara and Bob Mixon; Nora and Gary Garrison of Florence; Jenny and Scott Verbarg of North Charleston and Johnny and Brenda Ponder of Columbia. Church services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Northbridge Baptist Church, 1160 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., West Ashley. The Ponder family is being served by the PALMETTO CREMATION SOCIETY, 11 Cunnington Avenue, Charleston, SC 29405. Visit our guestbook at www.charleston.net/deaths.
