Sam was my best friend from the time we were 5 years old. He lived right across the street from me on the corner of Milton Ave and 3rd East. We had many wonderful experiences together over many years. We would like to contact Shirley to visit with her if at all possible. We loved Sam and Shirley.

Sam had many friends, but I may be his oldest friend and he was my oldest and best friend throughout our lives. We lived across the street from one another on Milton Avenue in Salt Lake City and attended kindergarten together at the Whittier School at age 5. Even though we lived far apart, after attending Jr. High at Lincoln Jr and high school at South High, we never lost track of one another. Sam was always a special person and our friendship never changed over all the years we knew one another. We are grateful that we had dinner with Sam and Shirley just a few months ago in Oceanside and thank Shirley for letting us know of his passing. Sam and Shirley were a perfect match and we will miss Sam being part of our lives. We love you Shirley and thank you for taking good care of my best friend for so many years. You are in our thoughts and prayers. With love,

Dear Shirley and Family,
The news of Sam's passing has been very hard for me. You see, we go way back. We had our tonsils taken out in
Aunt Katie's dinning room. And our lives, as cousins, have been intwined ever since. Shirley and Sam shared their wonderful beach house with me along with many beautiful experiences.
Sam, I will miss your Oceanside Christmas cards, your e-mails and pictures, your teasing sense of humor and your love and caring.Although this is a sad time for me, I know you are celebrating in heaven.
God bless Shirley and your children
I Love you,
Beth Oliver Sanchez

Sam was my first boss, at Grand Central #7. I learned a lot from him, and now that I'm a boss, even 30 years later, I find myself repeating "Sam-isms" with my employees. He obviously had quite an influence on me. RIP, Sam.

I will always remember Sam from my time working at BEST in Oceanside. Once Sam found out he & I graduated from the same High School (South High) & that I had lived down the street from the street bearing his name Sam Oliver, we became insta
nt Friend's. Once my Husband's Military Service in Calif. ended & we moved back home to Salt Lake, Sam called ahead to the Murray BEST & made sure I had a job, & even called me several times to check & see how I was doing. What a wonderful man! Godspeed, Sammy! :)
