Sam King Obituary

Sam King, Jr. Charleston - Sam King, Jr., at age 87, passed away at Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC on July 6th, 2017. He was born May 19th, 1930 in Charleston, SC. He remained there his entire life. Mr. King attended Charleston County Schools and graduated from Burke High School in the year 1947. He went on to have a brief stay in the Air Force. He had various jobs as a young person. Mr. King retired after 38 years from Charleston Naval Shipyard. He also finished his secular work with Dockside Apartments in 2008 (20 years). Mr. King is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth A. King; his children, Carolyn Smith (James), Sandra King, Melvina Grey, Darryl King, Sr. (Lynn), and Brother, Richard King (Avis); five grandchildren: Damon Smith, Daniel Smith, Allison Curry (James), Darryl King, Jr. (Abigail), and Alysa M. King. Mr. King is predeceased by his parents, Sam King, Sr. and Anna Lee King; sister, Mazie Matthews; and brothers, Hardy King and Richie King. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, July 15th at 1:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3312 Bonanza Rd., Charleston, SC 29407.
