Dear Hood Family,
I am a friend of Jimmys and have heard such praise and great love for his "mamma" from him over the years. From Jimmys' words she was a very loving and energetic person who loved life for the 98 years that she lived. I am sorry for your loss as I know you have never been without her. Pray to her when you are fearful or confused and she will guide you.

I remember a most wonderful Aunt who always treated me with great kindness and love especially when I spent the summers at her beach house. I can reflect on those summers filled with her laughter and share a laugh. My heart goes out to Fred, Llewellyn, Jimmy, Bobby, Scotty and all the grand and great grandchildren. Your cousin, Jules Smith

Ruth and Fred were loving grandparents to namesake Nona Ruth Hood. She loved to visit Charleston. When I was married to Jim Hood, Ruth and Fred guided me in the art of entertaining and decorating. They tutored me well and I have used the lessons all my life. Nona Ruth and I send love and blessings to Fred and the family. Sincerely, Laneri Walker Hood
