The family has requested that the staff of Lane Construction serve as honorary escorts and their presence is requested at The Funeral Chapel at 1:30 that afternoon. Born March 19, 1964, while his father was stationed in Babylon, New York, he was raised in Beaufort County, South Carolina having been the youngest child of the late Russell Thomas Phillips, Sr. and the late Ouida Herndon Phillips. Rusty began with RAE Construction Company which is known today as Lane Construction where he was a respected and dedicated superintendent having been employed by the company for many years. The simple pleasure he took in spending time with family and friends was one of the greatest treasures life had afforded him. He was an avid Clemson Tigers fan having just recently taken his daughter, his greatest achievement in life, to her first football game. Surviving are: his wife of twenty-two years, Mrs. Maryanne Sineath Phillips; his daughter, Olivia Taylor Phillips of the home; a brother, Arthur Augustus Phillips and his wife Laura of Decatur, Alabama; and a sister, Elizabeth Phillips Cranston and her husband Henry of Birmingham, Alabama. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Sharon Smith Sineath as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Mr. R. Arnold Sineath. Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Adnah United Methodist Church, care of Mrs. Jackie Smoak, 124 Hiers Corner Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
