Rudolph Pyatt Obituary

Rudolph A. Pyatt, Jr. FORT WASHINGTON, MD - Rudolph A. Pyatt, Jr., 88, a former Washington Post columnist, died on January 7, 2022 at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. Mr. Pyatt, a Charleston, S.C. native, resided in Fort Washington, MD. He was the son of the late Rudolph A. Pyatt, Sr. and Jennie Murray Pyatt. Mr. Pyatt began his journalism career at the Charleston News and Courier. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jacqueline Bell Pyatt; twin sons, Rudy Pyatt of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Randy Pyatt and wife, Emily Pyatt and their twins, RJ and Sophia Pyatt of Bryans Road, MD.; and sisters, Alice A. Pyatt of Charleston, S.C. and Gwendolyn Marion and husband, Benjamin of St. Albans, N.Y. A memorial service will be held at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745 on January 17 at Noon with viewing beginning at 11:00 AM. Mr. Pyatt will be buried in Charleston, S.C., where a memorial service will be held Noon, January 22, 2022, at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, N.
