Ruby Newman Obituary

Ruby Anne Newman N. CHARLESTON - Ruby Anne Sires Newman, 90, of North Charleston, wife of Carl H. Newman for 64 years passed away at her home with loved ones on Wednesday, February 16, 2011. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at 11 o'clock at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, Charleston. Friends may call at the church from 10:30 until the hour of service on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Beaufort National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401. Mrs. Newman was born November 19, 1920, in Charleston, daughter of the late William Preston Sires and Lilley Savage Sires. She attended St. Andrews Parish, West Ashley. She enjoyed traveling and living with her husband in the United States and Europe. She and her husband lived in Japan and Spain while her husband served in the United States Navy. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and was a member of First Scots Presbyterian church. Survivors including her husband are: several nieces and nephews, special friends Stan and Joan Hower of Charleston, SC.
