Ruby Helen Glover Mims JAMES ISLAND - Ruby Helen Glover Mims, 88, of James Island, SC, widow of Herbert J. Mims, entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 2, 2015. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in Holy Cross Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Helen was born September 24, 1926, in Walterboro, SC, daughter of the late James Easterling Glover and the late Ruby Elizabeth Remley Glover. She was a retired bookkeeper and accountant, formerly employed by Paul Motor Company, Palmetto Ford and CNSY Federal Credit Union. Helen was a graduate of Columbia Business College. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Union, Friends of Bonnie Doone Plantation, former member of the Sun Beams, Girls Auxiliary and former treasurer of Lighthouse Point Baptist Church. Helen was a charter member of Harbor Light Baptist Church and a former member of Rutledge Avenue Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine M. Tillman (Donald) of James Island; two special grandsons, Donald "Donnie" Earle Tillman (Dr. Mary Kate) and Matthew "Matt" John Tillman, both of James Island; and three special great-granddaughters: Erin Tillman, Katie Tillman, and Anna Claire Tillman, all of James Island. Additional family members include Dot Glover, Betty Wimberly, nieces, nephews and cousins. Helen was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers. Knowing that God is creator and honor of all things, the Glover family initially landed at Charles Towne Landing in 1688 A.D., and was so blessed to own much of the property covering the eastern seaboard before the wars. Helen's great-great-grandfather was the late Dr. Joseph Edward Glover. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Hospice of Charleston, Dr. William McGuire and his office staff for their care through the years.
