Ruby Gillard Obituary

Ruby Stevens Gillard MT. PLEASANT - Ruby S. Gillard, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, entered Heaven on January 19, 2024, after a long illness. Ruby was born in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada. She was the daughter of Walter Stevens and Susan Stevens Hanlon. Ruby lived in Mt. Pleasant since 1973 and was an active member of Christ Our King Catholic Church. She was well thought of by her many friends, loving family and neighbors. Ruby was a founding member of East Cooper Community Outreach and was a volunteer for many years. She enjoyed travelling, dancing, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Ruby was deeply loved by her family and will be dearly missed. Ruby was first married to the late Julian F. Hopkins, Jr. and was the widow of Richard C. Gillard of Mt. Pleasant. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Christopher Hopkins, as well as her parents. Ruby is survived by her son, Julian F. Hopkins III and her grandchildren, Taylor C. Hopkins and Emily S. Hopkins, all of Mt. Pleasant. Services will be private.
