Visitation will also be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church Campground, 2500 U. S. Highway 41 North, Fort Valley, Georgia. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 25, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church in Fort Valley, Georgia. Interment will be in the Campground Cemetery at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church in Fort Valley, Georgia, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ's Sanctified Holy Church, "Campground Partners Fund," P. O. Box 1465, Perry, GA 31069. Roy was born in James Island, South Carolina, on January 4, 1940. He was the son of the late Daniel William Chandler, Sr. and the late Fannie Mae Menck. When he was 10 years old, Roy and his family moved to Norfolk, Virginia. While attending Norview High School, he made the decision to leave high school at age 15 and make a career in the construction business. He started by laying tile and by age 17, Roy began building homes. At age 19, he had 15 homes in progress and had truly laid the foundation for a successful career. In 1964, Roy married Emily Ware and later had two children, Cheri and Marty. In 1966, they moved to Charleston, South Carolina, and Roy continued building homes until 1970. It was then that his second career in the music industry began when he accepted a sales position with Hall of Music. After a short 6 months of success, Roy was promoted to management, overseeing 17 stores in the Southeast. When the company closed several years later, he saw an opportunity and opened his own piano and organ business in West Ashley, South Carolina, named Mr. Music. Some years and a few moves later, Roy found himself back in Charleston, working in the automobile industry, as a salesman, then a finance manager, and eventually opening his own car lot named Auto Associates in North Charleston, from which Roy retired in 2004. It was then that he married Dawn Cropper and moved to Dagsboro, Delaware, where Roy became an ordained minister for Christ's Sanctified Holy Church, and revived the congregation in Delaware. They also attended the church in Chincoteague, Virginia, until Dawn's health would not allow her to attend. Dawn's illness prompted a move to Christ's Sanctified Holy Church Campground in Perry, Georgia, where Dawn received treatment from local physicians, and Roy became her primary caregiver. Once she passed in October of 2022, Roy returned to Charleston to be with his family. He was delighted to see his children, grandchildren, and extended family members daily. Roy loved listening to gospel music, reading his Bible, and being an example of what his heritage left for him. What a strong, Christian man he was, and what a treasured legacy he leaves to his family. Roy was a long-time member of Christ's Sanctified Holy Church and thoroughly loved their ministry. He welcomed opportunities of sharing the gospel with others and leading them to Christ through sanctification. Through the years, Roy enjoyed fast cars, playing jokes on close friends, boating, clamming, eating steamed oysters, attending family gatherings, and playing southern gospel music on his organ. Roy was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of eighteen years, Dawn Cropper Chandler; and his siblings, Daniel William Chandler Jr., Dora Rodgers, Ernie Chandler, Catherine Simons, Anna Mae Rickards, Billy Chandler, and Mary Davis. Left to cherish the memories they made with Roy are his children, Cheri Mahaffey (Mike) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Marty Chandler (Michelle) of Hanahan, SC; his stepson, John Elisha Beers (Cherise) of Maysville, WV; his grandchildren, Chandler Mahaffey (Mackenzie), Taylor Grace Mahaffey, and Trace Chandler; his step-grandchildren, John William Beers, Jenna Amenta (Carlo), Josiah Beers, Jediah Beers, and Jeriah Beers; one great-grandson, Emerson Mahaffey; one step-great-grandson, Domenic Amenta; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
