Rosalind Holmes Obituary

Leonora Rosalind Jones Holmes, age 83, of St. Stephen, SC, passed away peacefully on Monday morning at her granddaughter's home. Born on December 29, 1941 in North Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of Ottis Murdic Jones and Nannie Ruth Hilton Jones. Leonora dedicated her career to caring for children as the Daycare Director at Northside Baptist Church. Her life was deeply rooted in faith, and she was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Bonneau. She cherished her church community and, along with her husband, participated in missionary work in Nova Scotia. Known as a true southern lady, Leonora found joy in cooking for her family, gardening, and preparing care packages for inmates and the homeless. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of many in her community. Leonora adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons, William Holmes, Jr. and his wife Erica of Brazil, and John Holmes of Ridgeville; her sister Joyce Eubanks and husband Robert of Anderson; her brother Murdic "Dick" Jones of Moncks Corner; granddaughter Brittany Holmes of St. Stephen; grandsons William Holmes and wife Amy of St. Stephen, and Justin Holmes of Pineville; and six great-grandchildren: CJ Haynes, JT Haynes, Brooke Holmes, Winter Holmes, Autumn Grace Holmes, Ronin Holmes, and Autumn Lynn Holmes; all of St. Stephen. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Harrison Holmes; two sisters, Nanette Myrtis Jones Davis and Deborah Ruth Jernigan; brother, Robert Ottis Jones. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home in Moncks Corner. Interment will follow at Bonneau Baptist Church Cemetery.
