Roger Swift Obituary

Roger Swift JOHNS ISLAND - Roger Allen Swift, 79, entered into Heavenly eternal rest on July 26th, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born in North Charleston, SC to the late Hiawatha and Clara Belle Lawton Swift in 1945, he graduated from North Charleston High School in 1964. Upon graduation, he embarked on a 42 year career with Albright & Wilson Chemical company until he retired in 2006. Upon retirement, he enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking and tinkering around in his shop. Discovering slight boredom in retirement, he worked part-time with McElveen Automotive Group and later Swifts Garage. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virgie Leola Amerson Swift and his children, Cindy Swift McGuckin (Gary) of Charleston, Valerie Swift Haynes (Vernon) of Charlotte NC, Allen Swift (Kimery) of Rock Hill and Andrew Swift (Mary Helen) of Johns Island. In addition to 4 grandchildren, Joseph McCracken, Lawrence McGuckin, Merri Charlotte Swift, Carolina Dowdy and 1 great grandson, Merrick Kevin Klinges and many friends who loved him. The family would like to send a special thanks to DR. Ryan Kalinsky, DR. Stephen Busby, Dr. Anthony Ross and Crescent Hospice of Charleston. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request a charitable donation be made to: TOPS chapter #0207 114 Tomaka Dr., Summerville, SC 29486.
