Roger Roffler Obituary

Dr. Roger W. Roffler MT. PLEASANT - Dr. Roger W. Roffler, 84, went to be with our Lord in Heaven on September 1, 2015. He was born June 10, 1931 in Mondovi, WI, son of the late Merle and Selma Roffler. Raised in Alma, WI Roger graduated from Alma High School in 1949 and then served in the Air Force. He obtained degrees in education from Winona State University and Wisconsin State College. Roger moved to Naples, FL in 1972 where he enjoyed a long career as a guidance counselor in the Collier County School System. He was a great advocate of obtaining a college degree and how it would always be an asset in one's life. Upon retirement in 1990, he moved to the mountains of North Carolina and later located to Mt. Pleasant, SC. He obtained his doctorate in philosophy and embraced his joy of letter writing, publishing his book 'A Write/Right to Happiness' in 1999. Over the years, he maintained many friendships through his letter writing and thoroughly enjoyed the simplicity of sending and receiving a handwritten note. Survivors include his longtime companion and angel, Jeanne Joy. His sisters, Betty Ebert of Zumbro Falls, MN, Ange Stohr of Alma, WI and Sharon Ebeling of Sebring, FL. His children include Trent Roffler (Missy) of Fernandina Beach, FL, Tara Sadler (Kenny) of Naples, FL, Travis Roffler (Lesa) of Matthews, NC and Trysta Roffler (Tom Lawder) of Naples, FL. He had 10 beautiful grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Roger's positive spirit and outlook on life was an inspiration to many. Always a kind word, thought, conversation or letter to offer when needed most. We are not whole without him but have so many wonderful memories to cherish.
