Roger Kovach Obituary

Roger D. Kovach, Sr. ORANGEBURG, SC - Roger D. Kovach, Sr., 72, of Orangeburg, went to his eternal home on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2017, at Four Holes Baptist Church, with the Reverend Tom McElhaney officiating along with the Reverend Floyd Dukes of Williston. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home in Orangeburg, and at other times at Roger's residence. Pallbearers will be David Bozard, William Fiddie, George Jones, Brian Newsome, Austin Rast, and Tunky Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Jamison Voluntary Fire Department. Roger was born September 6, 1944, a son of the late Louis and Florence Kovach in Michigan. Roger retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard after twenty-five years of service. He then worked at Zeus Machine Shop in Orangeburg Roger was a member of Four Holes Baptist Church where he was a member of Marcia Bennett Sunday School Class. He was a past deacon and Sunday School superintendent. Roger was also a member of the Jamison Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Calhoun Country Golf Club. Roger was the husband of Ann "Ott" Kovach to whom he had been married for 49 and 1/2 years. Roger is survived by his loving wife Ann; two sons, Roger Jr. and Christi Kovach, Allan and April Kovach; and one daughter, Susan and Randy Rucker. Roger had six grandchildren. They are Brittany and Roger D. Kovach, Haley and Jaden Kovach, and Alyssa and Charlie Rucker. Roger had two brothers, Jerold and Gloria Kovach, of Florida, Sheldon Kovach and one sister, Joyce Kovach of Michigan. Roger was a very gifted and talented man with many talents. He could repair many items. His motto was "If I can't fix it, then it ain't broken." Roger will truly be missed by his family and friends. I'm very sorry to hear of Rogers passing.
We were very good friends in our school years and shared the same birthday. We spent many birthdays together.He and your family are in my prayers.
