Robin MacBain Ellis Summerville - Robin MacBain Ellis, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, February 2, 2017 at home in Summerville, SC after a long illness. Funeral Services will be Thursday afternoon, February 9, 2017 in Parks Funeral Home Chapel at 2 o'clock. The Rite of Committal will be private. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 PM, with a Vigil Service starting at 5:15 PM. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Frances Willis SPCA, PO Box 1116, Summerville, SC 29484. Robin was born March 20, 1939 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Tom and Catherine MacBain. She grew up in Cheshire, CT and Wilmette, IL and graduated from NewTrier High School in Winnetka, IL. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO, where she majored in English. A former resident of Maine, she raised her two daughters there and spent many happy times at her Families' Cottage at Kennebunk Beach. She pursued a career in Nursing and worked as an RN. She loved the Atlantic Ocean and instilled that love in her family. She married her beloved husband, Jerry Ellis, on September 20, 1980. Robin and Jerry were active residents of Kennebunk and left behind numerous friends and great memories when they relocated to beautiful Summerville, SC in 1995. Robin loved to sing, travel and read. She enjoyed Masterpiece Theatre and was an avid animal lover and Patron of her local animal shelter. She was a devout Catholic and active member of her Catholic Church, St. John The Beloved, where she sang in the choir and served as Eucharistic Minister. She volunteered her time to many charitable organizations. She was active in the local Arts Association and Historical Society, and volunteered at the Historic Downtown Charleston Theater. In addition to her husband, Jerry Ellis of Summerville, Robin is survived by her two daughters, Robin C. Yontz of Rock Hill, SC and Catherine A. Nesbit of Kennebunk, ME; two brothers, Thomas MacBain of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Walter MacBain of Lewiston, ME; six step-children, Timothy Ellis, Terri Turgeon, Kelly Ellis, Mark Ellis, David Ellis, and Scott Ellis; two grandchildren; and two beloved dogs, Maggie and Sophie.
