Robin Collins MT. PLEASANT - Robin Collins, 82, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Sandra Hutson Collins, entered into eternal life on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 26, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 405 King Street at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m. Robin was born on November 15, 1940 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Almon Collins and Frances Sheppard Collins. Raised in Orangeburg, SC in a devout Christian home, Robin had many wonderful memories of growing up with his sister, June, and brother, Tim. A graduate of Orangeburg High School, he was an outstanding football player and active in many school activities. He earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Clemson University in 1963. Upon graduation, he worked for Lockheed Space and Missiles, and later taught school in Orangeburg, Atlanta, and served as Headmaster at Joseph Kershaw Academy in Camden. In 1966, he met Sandra Hutson of Charleston while they were both teaching in Atlanta. In 1967, they were married in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Not only were they husband and wife but also best friends for 55 years of marriage. They were the proud parents of Robin Bryan Collins and Timothy Hutson Collins, who provided them with fun family times through Scouting, sporting events, and boating activities. Their home was always filled with boys and laughter. Robin was supportive of his sons when they started their Charleston water tour company known as Sandlapper Tours in 2001. Following in his father's footsteps, Robin began his insurance career in 1967 at Metropolitan Life. In 1983, he founded Robin Collins and Associates Inc., an Insurance and Investment firm. He enjoyed serving his clients over the span of 50 years, receiving numerous awards. He was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table, and he also achieved status in the Court of the Table. During this time, he served as a Financial Advisor with the Lincoln Financial Group. Along with his passion for work, Robin had many interests and hobbies that he enjoyed with his family. He was an avid Clemson Football fan and loved to cheer on the Tigers, especially with his grandchildren. He and Sandy were both lovers of history, and enjoyed many travels together over the years. Robin was a grandfather extraordinaire, and his presence with his grandchildren was bigger than life. He enjoyed entertaining them and cheering them on in all of their various activities and was proud of their accomplishments. There are memories of Robin creating fun at many family gatherings. Robin was an active member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church for 48 years. Some of his church activities throughout the years included being a Sunday School teacher, a member of the church council, Cemetery Committee, Endowment Committee, Men's Chorus, a Capital Campaign Volunteer, and the President of Men in Mission. He was also a member of the Breakfast Exchange Club, the Arion Society, the Bruderlichenbundt, the Moultrie Camp Chapter of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, and a volunteer at the Neighbors Together, formally known as the TriCounty Ministries. Robin is survived by his wife, Sandy; two sons: R. Bryan Collins (Amy) and Timothy H. Collins (Monika) all of Mount Pleasant, SC; eight grandchildren: Chase J. Collins, Caroline E. Collins, Courtney E. Collins, T. Hutson Collins, Simons Catherine Collins, Brennan A. Cordona, Elana F. Cordona and Nicholas A. Cordona; brother, Tim Collins (Kitty) of Watkinsville, GA and sister, June C. Matzner (Rudy) of Charleston, SC; and also many cousins, nieces and nephews. I have worked for the Collins family for almost two decades. Mr. Robin made sure to tell me how much he appreciated me whenever he saw me. He always had a sweet smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye. Ms. Sandy, Bryan, Tim, y'all have never made me feel less than family and my heart and thoughts are with you now. Uncle Robin was a joyful man who lifted the spirits of everyone. As a little girl he would tell stories to my brothers and I using hand monsters of good guys and bad guys. He always has time for us.

Just a few years ago I watched him dance the night away with his youngest granddaughter, Courtney. Though he was fifty years older he was still bringing his high energy joy to a different generation:
