Robert Werner Obituary

Robert Lee Werner, age 94, of Medford, went peacefully to his place of eternal rest on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at home surrounded by his family under the care of Hope Hospice. He was born on June 16, 1931, in the Town of Chelsea to Herman and Minnie (Haenel) Werner, the youngest of 11 children.

Bob attended the Medford area schools and deployed to the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952 proudly serving on the U.S.S. Midway. After the Navy, Bob found the love of his life and was united in marriage to Rosemary 'Rosebud' Brandner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Catholic Church in Whittlesey on June 19, 1954.

Together Bob & Rosebud built their family home in Whittlesey in 1955, where they had four children. He worked hard, employed at companies such as Hurd Millwork in Medford, Liberty Homes in Dorchester and then retiring in 1995 at Weather Shield in Medford. He loved his family and watching sports on TV, Bob never missed a Brewers game.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Rosemary Werner; children, Susan (Wayne) Malchow of Whittlesey, Dr. Thomas Werner of Dallas, Texas and Sarah Werner, of Medford; daughter-in-law, Susan Werner of Medford; his ten grandchildren, Terrence Werner Jr., Kate (Dennis) Flood, Amy (Jason) Smola, Gregory (Randi) Werner, Kristin (Loren) Schultze, Dr. Brittany (Mike) Lemke, Gina (Dr. Ben) Hierlmeier, Andrew (Amber) Ledesma, Maria (Janna Johnson) Ledesma and Jeffrey (Shannon) Weiler; 16 great-grandchildren; his sister, Dottie Dietzman; sisters-in-law, Rita Brandner and Barb Brandner; Bob is also survived by Wayne Malchow's children, Stacey (Jason) Reamer, Jenny Higgins, Dan Malchow, Bob (Ashley) Malchow and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terrence Werner Sr.; brothers, Harold, Milton, Edward and Leon; sisters, Ruth Frischman, Lauretta Multerer, Pearl Mildbrand, Lenora Mayer and Leona Krug.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. with the service immediately following at 11 a.m. at OLPH Catholic Church in Whittlesey. Following the services, military rites will be performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team.
