Robert S. Weeks, Jr. "Sonny" ELLOREE, SC - Dr. Robert S. "Sonny" Weeks, Jr., died at his home Thursday, April 29, 2010. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elloree. Casket will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Phillip Coggins, assisted by the Reverend Robert Martin Weeks, will officiate. Burial in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Peggy Hightower Weeks. Active pallbearers will be William C. Brown, Burney Felkel, Walter Fogle, Charles Daniel Hall, Ray High, Frank Troy Pender, and Irvin Shuler. Dr. Weeks was the son of the late Robert Sebastian Weeks, Sr., and the late Thelma Funchess Weeks. Dr. Weeks was a graduate of Newberry College and Emory University, with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. While at Emory University, he was a member of Theta Theta Chapter, Chi Beta Phi, and Delta Sigma Delta. He was also a member of The Charleston Dental Society, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, a Life Member of Charity Lodge #62, AFM, Elloree, the Elks Club, (B.P.O.E.) and the Sertoma Club. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elloree, where he had served as a member of the church council. Dr. Weeks practiced dentistry in Elloree and retired from his practice in Charleston after many years of service. He is survived by two sons, Robert S. Weeks, III of Elloree and Ryan Craig S. (Marie) Weeks of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Ann Kerr) Huggins of Eutawville, S.C., and Mrs. Russell (Elizabeth, "Betty") Baerreis of Swansea, S.C.; one brother, John Thomas (Dot) Weeks of Jacksonville, Florida; a special friend, Adair Fogle and a long-time helper, Betty Jean Sellers and a number of nieces and nephews; and his two dogs, Rio and Callie, the loves of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife. Visitation will be Saturday night, May 1, 2010, at the Fogle-Hungerpiller Funeral Home in Elloree, S.C. from 6:00 to 8:00.
