Robert Ward Obituary

Robert Lee Ward ROCK HILL, SC - Dr. Robert Lee "Teeny" Ward, 92, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Dr. Ward was born in Rock Hill and was the son of the late Dr. William Brien Ward, Sr. and Etta Vaughn Ward. He was a graduate of Winthrop Training School, received his Bachelor's degree from Erskine College, and his Doctor in Medicine from Tulane University. He completed additional training at LSU. Dr. Ward's career in Pathology in Baton Rouge, LA spanned many years. He enjoyed antiquing, biking and running. He completed the New York Marathon many times, as well as, numerous other road races. He loved his family dearly, which also included his beloved dogs. Dr. Ward was a member of The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour. Dr. Ward is survived by his sisters, Mary Ward Maners (Jimmy) of Rock Hill; Ann Ward Houck of Florence and Jane Gregorie of Charleston; his brother, Dr. John L. Ward of Charleston, SC; his sisters-in-law, Dicksie Mims Ward of Rock Hill and Kaye Ward of Roanoke, VA and numerous nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. W.B. Ward, Jr.; Dr. Tommy Ward and his sister, Juliet Ward Brice. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 1:00 pm at The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, 144 Caldwell Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730 with interment following in Laurelwood Cemetery. The family will remain at the graveside to speak to friends following the service. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of York County at www.yorkcounty.org or to the charity of one's choice. Condolences may be made to the Ward family at www.greenefuneralhome.net.
