My condolences to the Joczik family. I met Lieutenant Colonel Turkoly-Joczik when I was an Army ROTC cadet at Kemper Military School & College from 1987 - 1989. He was the Dean of Academics and an advisor/mentor to the Phi Theta Kappa group of which I was a member. I really had the utmost respect for him because his previous military accomplishments were almost legendary to us! We loved hearing him talk about Vietnam and the Green Berets. As young aspiring Army officers, we all wanted to become Airborne Rangers and then go on to join Special Forces and earn our Green Berets. He was a great example for us, and we loved seeing him wear his Class A uniform with all his very special decorations. He was a sight to behold in his full military dress uniform! We all wanted to be like him. Everytime I saw him in the halls, I tried to talk to him or listen in on anything he was saying and teaching other young cadets. He was very special, and I never forgot him. I am very sorry for your loss. I know how much you miss him. I later became a Marine Officer and am glad I had Lieutenant Colonel Turkoly-Joczik as an example to follow. Rest in peace, Sir! God be with you and your family!

Truly sorry to learn of the passing of Dr. Turkoly-Joczik. I had the pleasure of having him as a professor for 3 classes during the mid 90's while at JWU. My wife has asked me numerous times why i always call people we encounter for the first time by their name. I just explain that my professor taught me that if a person has a nametag on then you address them by their name. His teachings will stay with me forever.
