Robert Thornley Obituary

Robert James Thornley YULEE, FL - Robert (Bobby) died October 13, 2018, in Fernandina, Florida, with family and friends after a year-long illness. Bobby was born April 25, 1943, and raised in Bonneau, South Carolina. The son of Edward James (Hornet) Thornley and Mary Ruth Williams Thornley. He attended Macedonia High School in Berkeley County. Professionally he was an insulator working around the country from Miami to Anchorage, Las Vegas to Jacksonville as part of the International Association of Heat, Frost and Asbestos Workers (Local #13 and Las Vegas, Nevada). He made buddies with coworkers, many of whom he cherished and nurtured into lifelong friendships. If Bobby wasn't working, he was enjoying country music and dancing, having begun his love of both at the Bonneau Beach Pavilion. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and his youngest son, James Scott Thornley. He is survived by his oldest son, Robert Michael Thornley (Lisa) of Yulee, Florida; two grandsons (Robert and Cody); granddaughter (Crystal); great-granddaughter (Bridgett); dear special friend and dance partner, Ovie Rodriquiz, of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Billy L. Thornley of Goose Creek, SC; sisters, Gloria T. Guerrie of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Yvonna T. Sineath of Seneca, SC, Frankie T. McGee, Raleigh, North Carolina; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews all of whom were Bobby's greatest fans and devoted followers. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at Thornley Cemetery located 684 Broughton Road, Moncks Corner, SC.
