Robert Swain Obituary

SWAIN, SR., Robert BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA - Robert R. Swain, Sr., 80, died May 28, 2006 at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley, CA after an illness. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 2205 State Park Road in Santte, SC. Father Tom Kingsley will preside. Born in Erie, PA on June 27, 1925, and previously of Mt. Pleasant, SC; he was the son of the late Raymond R. Swain, Sr. and Ethel S. Swain of Sullivan's Island. He was a US Navy Submarine Veteran who served in World War II. He retried after 35 years of US Civil Service working in San Francisco, California. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald W. Swain and Raymond R. Swain, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Linda Motoyo Swain of Albany, CA; three sons, Lt. Col (retired) Michael Dean Swain and his wife Pam of Atlanta, Georgia, Col (retired) Alan David Swain and his wife Doris of Clifton, Virginia, Colonel Robert Raymond Swain, Jr. and his wife Diane of Warner Robbins, Georgia; and a daughter, Drs. Linda Swain Crabbe and her husband Mark of Sumter, South Carolina; four brothers, David C. Swain of Montgomery, Alabama, James C. Swain of Springfield, Virginia, Gary M. Swain, Carl C. Swain, Leonard A. Swain, and two sisters, Ethel S. Backus and Nancy S. Jager all of Charleston, South Carolina; eleven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
