I was so sorry to hear about Dr. Speir's passing. During my mother's illness she had to receive numerous procedures at GSRMH. Dr. Spier was often the physician performing the procedure. I cannot begin to tell you how kind and friendly he was during this difficult time in our lives. We encounted many physcians during my mother's illness and Dr. Spier was definitly a shinning star. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time of loss.

Carol, Bob, and the whole family,
You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Robbie was a special person and I remember wrestling with him and his brothers on the floor in Madison when we were growing up. I remember his drive to become a doctor and a good one at that. May God hold you all in his arms and give you peace as you grieve.

Patty, Bobby, and Katie,
If it weren't for Rob's support and insight we would never have made the decision to locate our practice and home in MB. I/we have never met a nicer, better person.
Our grief is easier to bear because of fond memories of him that remain with us always and we hope, trust and pray that your grief is mitigated by a much larger library of quality memories of this magnificent man.
With love,
David, Sally, Kevan and Ryan Kee

Dear Patty,
I truly am very sorry about Rob.We shared a lot of time together in Gross Anatomy and our first 2 years in Med.School.I loved the way his blue eyes would tear up when he was telling a good joke or hearing one. We sure laughed a lot back then! Rob was a great guy. Rob is free of pain now and for that I'm grateful. I don't know if Rob got better at cleaning out his car as a married man with children compared to his days at MUSC,because I suspect the fine for litter in heaven is steep. Rob's Toyota was a mobile Petri dish--very scary things were on the floorboard. Not bad Rob,not bad at all, that's the worst thing to be said about a very fine man. Patty, God bless you,Bobby, and Katie.

I am fortunate to have been with Robbie for several days not so long ago. He was no longer "the kid growing up around the corner" in New Jersey. What he was I loved: a kind, considerate friend; a physician who cared; and a warm human being who by his personable and humorous actions made my world a little brighter. I'll never forget that he laughed at himself as "the hunchback of Myrtle Beach." RIP.
