Robert Singletary Obituary

Robert Preston Singletary SUMMERVILLE - Robert Preston Singletary, 70, of Summerville, SC, entered into the hand of the Lord on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, October 29, 2011 at Parks Funeral Home Chapel at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery. Friends may call at Parks Funeral Home Friday evening from 6 - 8 o'clock. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leeds Avenue, Suite 101, North Charleston, SC 29405. Mr. Singletary was born April 19, 1941 in Charleston, SC, a son of H. B. Carson, Sr. and Polly Carson and Elsie Connolly. He was a dairy man for Bells, Smoakes, and Saulisbury Dairys, carpenter and self owned businessman. He enjoyed going to church, gardening and his grandchildren. He was a devoted and loving husband father and friend. We wish to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Charleston and to Gloria Norman and Clayton Smith. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Hammock-Hermann of Summerville; a granddaughter, Jenna Hewitt of Summerville; two grandsons, Chris Hammock (Heather) of CA, Ashley Hammock of Summerville; longtime companion, Mary Ruth Taylor of Summerville; three brothers, Michael Connolly (Elsie) of Delaware, Jerry Connolly (Crystal) of Moncks Corner, Marshall Connolly (Nancy) of Texas; and five sisters, Barbara Singletary, Jeannette Cobb, Annette Connolly, Mary Connolly, Otis Estelle Woodard, all of Charleston, SC. He was predeceased by both mothers and father, Polly Carson and Elsie Connolly and H. B. Carson, Sr., his wife, Susan Craven Singletary; and brothers, Lonnie Benton, Harvey Harley, Glen Carson, Heber Carson, Chris Carson, Doland Connolly, Marion Connolly and Mark Connolly.
